Anonycat is web-based software that allows you to surf the web anonymously and bypass overly restrictive corporate firewalls or monitoring/blocking software. Anonycat can be used online, or even run as a local service on your own webserver.
The installation process is designed to be as user-friendly as possible; you don`t need to edit/configure anything.
Just place the downloads in the right directory, and you`re up and running. This version of Anonycat, like the main site, only acts as a proxy for light content (html, xhtml, css, js) so bandwidth usage is not an issue for home users.
To run Anonycat on your own computer, you`ll need to install a webserver that can host servlets, such as Tomcat. Once you`ve installed the webserver, download the anonycat and parserlib jar files.
Place both jar files in the tomcat/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/lib folder (unless you want to configure a new web-application folder). You should then be able to run Anonycat through the following url: http://[your ip address]:8080/servlet/varsitech.anonycat.AnonycatServlet.
